From September 25 to 27, 2025, the SiciliaFiera exhibition center will host the second edition of HeySun – Energy Transition Expo. For the second consecutive year, the event will launch Mobility Days, thanks to the collaboration with the European Parliament and the patronage of the European Commission. Three days dedicated to sustainable mobility, road safety education, and innovation, designed for students and citizens.

The goal is to actively involve primary and secondary schools in an immersive experience on the topics of active mobility, road safety, and energy transition, to educate aware and responsible citizens through practical and engaging activities.

Nino Di Cavolo, president of SiciliaFiera, emphasized that “With Mobility Days, HEYSUN presents itself as a dynamic laboratory for the new generations. It is a virtuous example of synergy between institutions, businesses, and schools. Sustainable mobility is not just an environmental choice, but a vision of the future that puts people, public health, and quality of life at the center. Promoting active, shared, and low-impact forms of travel means building more livable, safe, and inclusive cities. According to European policies, educating the new generations about conscious mobility is the first step in transforming climate challenges into concrete opportunities for innovation and change.”

A rich program of initiatives: every morning from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., participating classes, currently with over 450 students, will have the opportunity to follow an engaging learning journey, divided into various educational, demonstration, and immersive stages. The experience, designed to stimulate curiosity and awareness, will feature numerous local organizations and organizations.

Among the most anticipated activities, the Automobile Club of Italy (ACI) will lead students in a high-impact educational workshop, using driving simulators and interactive tools dedicated to road safety. The Special Commissioner of the Automobile Club of Italy, General Tullio Del Sette, emphasizes that “Without education, road safety will remain a mirage, and the EU 2050 goal of zero deaths and zero serious injuries on the roads will prove unattainable, with the dramatic human, social, moral, and material consequences (in Italy alone, the cost of road accidents is nearly 1% of GDP), which, unfortunately, we all know.” Del Sette continues: “This is why initiatives like the ‘Mobility Days’, which place special emphasis on training young people and the very young, are a key event for ACI. They both educate road safety among those who will be the key players in tomorrow’s mobility, and they also provide a strong reminder of responsibility and respect for the Highway Code for all current mobility users; a mobility that, as we all hope, should become more efficient, sustainable, and safer every day.”

The Traffic Police will offer a “perception carpet,” a hands-on experience using sensory glasses to reflect directly and realistically on the dangers of driving while impaired. FIAB – Italian Federation for the Environment and Bicycles – will lead classes on an experiential journey on active mobility, enhanced by an educational bike workshop where students will learn the basics of bicycle maintenance. With the presence of LIME, participants will be able to safely test e-bikes and electric scooters, accompanied by training sessions on the responsible use of micro-mobility. There will also be excellent examples of innovation: Futuro Solare will present “Archimede 2.0,” a solar-powered car designed entirely in Sicily.

Academia will also be a key player: the University of Catania will engage students and faculty with the MOOVLE app and with activities under various projects, including ‘BEC2SCHOOL’, dedicated to school mobility and promoting road safety. Finally, AMTS – Catania Metropolitan Transport and Parking Company will provide connections to the SiciliaFiera hub via free electric shuttles from the Monte Po metro station, also setting up a demonstration area dedicated to zero-emission urban public transport.

Furthermore, on September 27th, one of the most important institutional events will be the “Mobility4Everyone” round table, which will bring together representatives from the public, private, and academic sectors to reflect on accessibility to sustainable mobility as a lever for social inclusion, innovation, and regional development.

Mobility Days benefits from the collaboration of institutional and technical partners including: the European Parliament, the European Commission – European Mobility Week, ASviS, the Automobile Club of Italy, the Italian Federation for the Environment and Cycling, LIME, the Sicilian Regional School Office, AMTS, the University of Catania, Confartigianato Imprese, Futuro Solare, Movision, Europe Direct Catania NGO e-Medine Observatory, and others.

[19

post-5703","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-newsroom-en
